Project: Residential Retractable Roof Installation
Location: Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire
Products installed: DSS Customer Flat 135 Retractable Roof, DSS Motorised Blind, custom beams, brackets and flashings
Project Overview
The White Lion in Narberth, Wales, required a practical solution to make its outdoor hospitality area more comfortable and usable in changing weather conditions. The installation needed to complement the existing building while providing reliable shelter for customers using the terrace.
The Solution
DSS installed a bespoke DSS Compact Retractable Roof System, incorporating DSS Motorised Zip Blinds to provide additional weather protection around the outdoor seating area.
Custom flashings and brackets were manufactured and fitted to accommodate the existing building structure, creating a neat, integrated installation that works alongside the surrounding brickwork, rooflines and architectural features.
The retractable roof provides overhead shelter, while the motorised zip blinds offer additional protection when required. Together, these features give the venue greater flexibility in how it uses its outdoor space.
The Result
The completed installation provides The White Lion with a sheltered outdoor hospitality area that can be adapted to changing conditions. Combining a retractable roof, motorised zip blinds and bespoke finishing details, the system balances practical weather protection with a clean, professional finish.
The project demonstrates how a tailored DSS installation can help hospitality venues make better use of their outdoor seating areas while working within the constraints of an existing building.
